First and foremost, I would like to thank all of you for participating in this challenge. It wasn’t easy, especially since it was during a major holiday (Thanksgiving), but we did it! It’s not about how many times we failed working out, had a cheat meal, skipped a prayer, or drink other beverages besides water–it’s about the times we made the effort to still continue challenging ourselves for the better and strive for the best. This is not a place to judge and I am not the person roaring for a competition or pointing out flaws. The journey to “A Better YOU” is a place to grow, make mistakes and learn from it, encourage one another and to support. I hope that this challenge brought you towards a more positive outcome in life and most importantly, a better you! Now as promised, I have selected two people voluntarily to share their experiences to “A Better YOU” 30 Day Challenge. Check out their responses below:
A Better YOU 30 Day Challenge Questionnaire
Participant Name #1 : Shirley Louis
30 Day Challenge to “A Better You” Experience
1.) Congratulations on completing the 30 day challenge! What is one word that describes your experience overall?
2.) How did you hear about this challenge?
I heard about this challenge on Facebook from the one and only Dhane.
3.) What encouraged you to join along and participate?
I have to be honest, I’m going to Puerto Rico for my birthday so I wanted to make sure that look right in my bathing suit. So what better way to do it than to join a challenge that would require me exercise, eat clean and do some self-cleansing spiritually, emotionally, and physically!
4.) Did you participate in this challenge by yourself or with a partner?
I invited two of my other friends to participate in the challenge. Although, one of them did not make it to the end of the challenge, she did notice a big difference in her attitude and poor eating habits.
5.) Throughout this challenge, what were your most difficulty time and how did you manage to overcome it?
The most difficult part of the challenge for me was being consistent. It’s so easy to become so consumed with work and day to day responsibilities that you forget to spend time with the Lord, exercise or even cook a hearty meal. On a few occasions I would get up and go for a jog around my complex because I completely forgot to make it to the gym earlier that day. I guess at the end of the day it all comes down to my time management.
6.) Have you learned anything new about yourself during the challenge and do you feel satisfied with your results today?
I did not learn anything new about myself this challenge however, I’m very satisfied with the results as I was forced to face some of my bad habits and work on them such and procrastination and my lack of time management skills.
7.) What was your favorite “Inspirational Quote of the Day” and why?
My favorite inspirational quote during this challenge was “Lord remove the boundaries off of my trust for you and lead me where my faith will be made stronger.” This quote/verse spoke volumes to my spirit. I stumbled across the song “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United. I realized that I trusted the Lord but my trust had boundaries. I knew and I know that God hears all my prayers but sometimes I would limit him. However, this song reminded me that I have to have complete trust and faith in my God!
8.) Explain some of your workout routine during the 30 day challenge:
My workout routine consisted of mainly cardio and abs. For example, I would run 3 miles after work or do 15 minutes of the stair master or bike as a warm up. Each day was designated for a specific body part. Monday is legs, Tuesdays are arms etc…
9.) How is your eating habits now that you completed the challenge?
My eating habits did not change much because I usually eat clean on a regular basis. However, I drink more water now and laid off the juice.
10.) Are you a better YOU now?
I am a better and happier me!!!

Myself, I needed something to jump start my goal to a better and healthier me.
Did you participate in this challenge by yourself or with a partner?
Throughout this challenge, what were your most difficulty time and how did you manage to overcome it?
Difficult time would be changing my eating habits, especially when I came to being at work. I managed by actually bringing my own healthy lunch to work and not eating out in fast food restaurants.
Have you learned anything new about yourself during the challenge and do you feel satisfied with your results today?
Yes, I learned that actions speaks louder than words. Its easy to say that I want to lose weight or Im want to eat healthy. However, when you actually performs those actions, it becomes more self fulfilling and actually it becomes more of a steady habit. Yes, I feel extremely satisfied with my results. No, I didn’t lose the amount of lbs that I wanted to lose, but I did gained a lot more energy and improving in my workout performance. Eventually, the lbs will melt away when I least expect it.
What was your favorite “Inspirational Quote of the Day” and why?
Day 29: If you are persistent, you will get it. If you are consistent, you will keep it. Favorite quote because it just reminds me that this healthy living isn’t something that is a short term. I didn’t get to this weight overnight, so I know in order for me to get to the best shape, it will take time. So, I have to be persistent and consistent with eating well and exercising.
