The Perfect Baby Products

FullSizeRender (6)What are the first 3 important things on your mind when it comes to having a baby? For me it’s their health, skin and hair. Of course having a baby can be fun and thrilling, especially a baby girl – you can dress/style them up and it’s nothing like having a mini you. But it can sometimes be fearful when you’re trying your best to prevent them from any kind of sickness or harm. Nevertheless, I love being a mom. I’m proud of many things in life but nothing compares to being a mother. Oh, and being a wife to someone who is also my best friend –did I forget to mention handsome?  (Well, that’s for another story). I was blessed to bring a beautiful healthy baby girl into this world. Melissa recently turned 3 months and I can’t help but to think how time flies! Being a mom, I am more deliberate and very cautious. I research EVERY little things. From choosing the right pediatrician Dr. to buying the right products for her skin and hair. FullSizeRender (4)

Aveeno Baby was the first product line I used for Melissa. My favorite part of the day is taking her a bath, it took a while for her to get used to bath time but she became accustomed to it and even enjoys it. After almost a month of using it, I noticed her skin and hair was really dry. As a matter of fact, her hair was dry and brittle—flakes occurred everywhere on her scalp down to her forehead. I knew Aveeno Baby wasn’t doing any justice at all so I immediately informed her doctor concerning the outcome of it. During a visit to her doctor’s office, I find out that Melissa had a slight sign of eczema and also cradle crap. I was relieved to know that it wasn’t anything major but yet, I was devastated. Even though it was common for babies, I never thought I would have to deal with it. The Dr. recommended Eucerin Baby line products and suggested I use it on Melissa consistently for better results. Thank God the Eucerin Baby line products worked MIRACLES on Melissa’s skin! I started seeing results after 2 weeks. There was no more dry skin, it was almost smooth like coconut butter. Now, her hair was a different story. The flakes was still there and I could also tell her scalp was intensively itching a lot. I’ve done my research online but I wanted to reach out to someone for help. Now, who’s better to ask for advice and submit your concerns to other than your family members?

(After using Mustela shampoo)

Exactly—I reached out to my aunt Thea and she was very helpful. She advised me to use a shampoo called “Mustela”—which can be found in any local convenient stores such as Target, Walmart, Walgreens and CVS. After talking with her, I consulted with Melissa’s Dr. about the shampoo and she reassured me that it was safe for me to use it. The Mustela shampoo worked instantly! I was so surprised and amazed—within 3 days of using it, the flakes was gone and her scalp was itchy-free. I’m still using it till this day, but the only con is that it leaves Melissa’s hair super dry. To prevent dryness on her hair, I apply olive oil every night on her scalp as a moisturizer. I can’t tell you the joy inside me seeing how healthy her hair looks now. Regretfully, I didn’t take any before pictures of her hair and skin. I’ll try to give you guys an update every 2-3 months. The baby hair is growing out and her natural hair is coming in nicely.

Finding the perfect products for your baby have to be the right products—not the most popular or what you prefer to use that smells “good”. In my opinion, it’s best for you to choose products that are either lightly scented or unscented. Baby skins are sensitive, you need something that will not bring an allergic reaction or make their skin irritated. Also, anything organic is good for your baby as well. But most importantly, talk to your DR. and find out what best works for your baby.

Let me just say this; for all my new mommies and soon-to-be moms, your skills of taking care of your baby will come NATURALLY. Trust me, no books or blogs can teach you how to really be a good mother. Don’t put too much energy on figuring everything out, it will come to you along the way. I’m 3 months in and every day is an opportunity to learn new things.

What baby line products do you use for your baby? Please share your response below, I would love to hear it!
